NASHVILLE, TN. (Top40 Charts/ Rocky Comfort) - Country music superstar
Tracy Lawrence will host his 12th Annual Arkansas Homecoming, a fundraiser concert Saturday, February 16, 2008 in Texarkana, Arkansas. The show will feature full-band concert performances by Lawrence and his buddies
Clay Walker and Michael Scott.
'I love going home to Arkansas to perform' says Lawrence. 'There's a special energy when you play in your home state. It's always a really good time. This year we're planning an awesome evening of music. My good friend Clay Walker is going to join me as well as a new artist named Michael Scott.'
The event benefits The Tracy Lawrence Fund, Inc. a 501 C-3 organization dedicated to giving back through community support and service, select charities and special needs. Promoting awareness, research, and education of Alzheimer's disease as well as providing educational scholarships have been priorities of the Foundation in recent years. During his career, Lawrence has fully-endowed numerous scholarships, raised more than one million dollars for Cystic Fibrosis, joined forces to raise funds and awareness for CASA, and funded a variety of projects in his hometown of Foreman, Arkansas including the building of a computer science lab at the high school he attended.
"Giving back is something very important to me,' notes Lawrence. 'It's just ingrained in my soul and I will instill it in my children. As long as I have a breath in me, it will be a part of my life to contribute something back to this world.'
Lawrence remains loyal to his roots and is proud to be a traditional country vocal stylist. His performance will feature material from his current CD titled FOR THE LOVE (Rocky Comfort Records/CO5), including his No. 1 power-hit 'Find Out Who Your Friends Are,' as well as other material from his lengthy list of career chart-toppers. He's a fixture on country radio and in the homes, cars, and offices of music fans everywhere and is known for such hits as 'Time Marches On,' 'Alibis,' 'If The World Had A Front Porch,' 'Lessons Learned,' and 'Sticks And Stones.' His much loved 'Paint Me A Birmingham' is not only one of his most successful, but one of the most requested singles of his career.
One of the country genre's most vital and character-rich voices, Lawrence has experienced an incredible 18 months that included making a remarkable return to the No. 1 spot on national music trade charts with 'Find Out Who Your Friends Are' and proving that an independent record label owned by a country music recording artist can compete successfully. He launched his own label in July, 2006, released his first single, released his first full CD, celebrated his 17th No. 1 career record, 'Find Out Who Your Friends Are,' the first No. 1 for Lawrence in more than 10 years and a No. 1 for two consecutive weeks on the charts; released two videos 'Find Out Who Your Friends Are' and 'Til I Was A Daddy Too,' released his second single, 'Til I Was A Daddy Too;' received a CMA Award in the Musical Event category for 'Find Out Who Your Friends Are;' and released his first Christmas CD.
Early last summer, Lawrence made history when 'Find Out Who Your Friends Are' topped both the Billboard/R&R and Country Aircheck/Mediabase national charts in the coveted No. 1 spot. He was the first country artist to reach the No. 1 position with the debut single on his own record label, RCR. It held at No. 1 on the Country Aircheck/Mediabase chart for two consecutive weeks, and marked Lawrence's first No. 1 since 1997 when he topped the R&R chart with 'Is That A Tear.'
