NEW YORK (Top40 Charts/ EMI Music Publishing) - Sports fans across America will be humming songs from EMI Music Publishing songwriters after the Super Bowl on Sunday (February 3), after the world's most creative music publisher completed agreements to feature its music within some of the most eagerly-anticipated television commercials of the year.

With the opportunity to reach an estimated TV audience of more than 90 million people, advertisers during the Super Bowl broadcast are eager to make their 30 second spots stand out from the crowd. With its catalog of 1.3 million songs from writers as varied as Jermaine Dupri, Billy Joel, Jay-Z, Queen, Sting, Kanye West and Amy Winehouse, more and more brands and agencies are turning to EMI Music Publishing.

While full details of the details of the commercials to be featured during the Super Bowl is always a closely-guarded secret, EMI Music Publishing songwriters will feature in at least two of the highest profile spots.

'Can't Take My Eyes Off You', written by Bob Crewe and Bob Gaudio, appears in a brand new commercial for Planters Nuts - part of Kraft Foods Inc. - which is advertising in the Super Bowl for the first time ever. Heads will turn and eyes will widen in this spot humorously depicting how far men will go to follow their instincts. The commercial was created by advertising agency Draftfcb New York. 'Can't Take My Eyes Off You' was used by Planters as the result of a pitch to Draftfcb by EMI Music Publishing's Product & Content Group Manager Buzzy Cohen, with deal terms negotiated by Vice President of Music Resources and Client Management Services Susan Schwartz.

Regular Super Bowl advertisers Anheuser-Busch are using musical cues from the movie Rocky' in this year's adverts for Budweiser, including the iconic theme music entitled 'Gonna Fly Now' written by Carol Connors, Bill Conti and Ayn Robbins. The commercial was created by advertising agency DDB Chicago, which announced a long-term strategic music marketing alliance with EMI Music Publishing last year.

EMI Music Publishing Senior Vice President of Music Services & Licensing Nancy Weshkoff commented: 'Every great moment begins with a great song, and there's no greater moment in US sport each year than the Super Bowl. Music is at the heart of some of the best commercials ever shown. We're always looking to work with agencies and brands to make sure that they get the perfect song for every ad – and that's even more important at Super Bowl time. We're delighted to be able to work with Planters and Anheuser Busch to secure these spots on behalf of our songwriters.'

EMI Music Publishing's songwriters have a long history of providing the music for Super Bowl commercials, with recent songs featured in the game broadcast breaks having included 'Bohemian Rhapsody' (Mountain Dew), 'Hot In Herre' (Chevrolet), 'Smoke On The Water' (Nissan), 'The Final Countdown' (Federal Express), 'U Can't Touch This' (Frito Lay) and 'The Best Is Yet To Come' (GMC).
