NEW YORK (Top40 Charts/ Attack Attack/ Redeye Records) - The moment has finally arrived and New Model Army will at last tour North
America in support of their 10th studio album High, released in 2007 on Attack Attack/Redeye. The band was forced to postpone their initial tour in
September '07 at the last minute due to visa complications. "It was unbelievably frustrating not to be able to play High in North
America last autumn," proclaims vocalist, guitarist and songwriter Justin Sullivan. "Now at last we get the chance! The European tour included some of our best shows ever, so this is going to be great. The current band is certainly the best version of New Model Army for more than twenty years.
"New Model Army begin their trek on this side of the pond March 18th in Philadelphia and after heading across the U.S. and a few stops in Canada, end up in NYC to tear down the Mercury Lounge on April 18th. The album High will get a strong second push in States at retail and a new single "Bloodsport" will also be worked at radio.
Since the cancellation of the U.S. tour end of last year, New Model Army completed 48 shows in Europe, including a huge Christmas show in front of 3000 people in Germany. The upcoming US tour will see a varied selection of opening acts, including Echoes & Shadows on the East Coast, Zydepunks in the South, Vale for the Pacific Coast dates and plenty of cool local acts to warm up the crowd. NMA took New York rock outfit Demander across Europe as their opener after hearing of ther impressive NYC performances. The live atmosphere is where New Model Army's explosive power erupts. "There may be no better time to fall in love with the precision gear grind of NMA's skull boring bombast," exclaimed New York Press during the Bradford outfit's last North American outing.
High is NMA's most guitar-driven and melodic album for some time, while the lyrics are the customary mixture of political and personal, timeless and absolutely current, but always with a vivid piece of storytelling at their heart. As is their tradition, New Model Army has once again placed a legend behind the boards with Chris Kimsey (The Rolling Stones, Jimmy Cliff, Killing Joke) both producing and mixing the album. The current line up of New Model Army is Justin Sullivan (vocal and guitar), Nelson (bass), Michael Dean (drums), Dean White (keys) and Marshall Gill (guitar).
