 LOS ANGELES (Top40 Charts/ Whodini Official Website) - Hip-Hop pioneers Whodini are celebrating their 25th year anniversary beginning February of this year. The hip-hop group who first hit the scene in 1983 consists of Jalil Hutchins, Ecstasy (John Fletcher) and Grandmaster Dee (Drew Carter). Whodini was recently paid homage as an honoree at the 4th Annual VH-1 Hip Hop Honors Awards. Their early contributions to hip-hop are considered monumental in paving the way for generations to come. They were the first rap group to boast a platinum record and had a hand in cultivating young art forms today. Their music can be heard being sampled by top artist including Kid Rock, Snoop Dogg, MF Doom, Dre Dre, and Wil Smith. The celebration will kick off in Atlanta on February 11th with an appearance on CNN and Good Day Atlanta where they'll be performing " Friends" from their Platinum Album Escape. The Whodini 25th year anniversary will continue to be celebrated with a series of upcoming concerts, media blitz, and television appearances. You can also catch them opening up live for Chris Rock on his "Respect the Kill" Tour at the Rosemont Theatre in Chicago from February 14th- 17th. They're doing two major performances in Maryland and Atlanta. Also in the works is a single, expected to be released later on this year.
