NEW YORK, NY. (Top40 Charts/ Atlantic Records) - Photo Finish Records has announced the upcoming release of "DIALOG," the eagerly anticipated debut album from Paper Rival. The acclaimed new rock outfit's first full-length release - which includes the single, "Cassandra" - will be available in stores and via all online retailers on May 20th. The band posted "Cassandra" today on their MySpace page, www.myspace.com/paperrival.
The Nashville-based quartet has already drawn national attention for its evocative and expansive take on classic rock, with Alternative Press declaring it to be one of the "100 Bands You Need To Know" in its upcoming annual round-up issue, on sale March 4. In December, Paper Rival was named Spin.com's "Artist of the Day," which praised the band for its "cascading, dreamy guitar pop," and "lush tunes that don't fall into the usual trappings of overacted melodrama."
Paper Rival will release "DIALOG" with a series of March dates alongside Fueled By Ramen recording group, The Hush Sound. The band, who spent much of the last year on tour with such like-minded artists as Manchester Orchestra and Circa Survive, will also be making a highly anticipated stop at Austin, Texas's annual South By SouthWest extravaganza, including a performance at the Shirts For A Cure/Photo Finish Records showcase on Friday, March 14th. The annual event benefits the Syrentha J. Savio Endowment, which gives voice to the social concerns of punk bands and their many fans, while also raising awareness about breast cancer prevention.
Further North American tour dates will follow SXSW, including a number of shows pairing Paper Rival with Owen, as well as appearances at both the Bamboozle and the Bamboozle Left (see itinerary below). Paper Rival plans to stay on the road throughout the rest of 2008, with additional concert dates to be announced later.
Formed in late 2005, Paper Rival has slowly gained recognition across the country while touring with their self-titled EP. In December 2007, the band introduced fans to new songs from "DIALOG" with a special acoustic in-studio performance at Q101, Chicago's No 1 alternative rock station.
The 5-song self-titled EP, as well as the band's long out-of-print debut EP, "THIEVES," are both available now via iTunes.
