NEW YORK, NY. (Top40 Charts/ Hollywood Records) - Hollywood Records' artist "Jesse McCartney is on the verge of staging the most unexpectedly brilliant pop reinvention in recent memory with his new album, Departure." - PopJustice.com

Hitting stores on May 20th, New York native Jesse McCartney is back with his 3rd and most personal album yet, Departure. A new and edgier pop/R&B sound reflects his growth as a singer, songwriter and young man. Jesse's first single, "Leavin'", produced by Tricky and The-Dream (Rihanna's "Umbrella") is this week's No 2 most added song at Top 40, and the video is on pace to being the No 1 most viewed music video, having already reached over 600,000 views on youtube.

For Departure, McCartney sought out many of today's biggest hit-making producers. Sean Garrett (Chris Brown, Usher), J.R. Rotem (Sean Kingston, Rihanna), The Clutch (Ciara, Mary J. Blige), and Eric Hudson (Kanye West), who Jesse describes as a young Quincy Jones.

"The songs on Departure explore several facets of my growing pains and interpersonal relationships," says McCartney.

The UK and the US recently experienced a taste of McCartney's poignant songwriting with "Bleeding Love," a song he co-wrote with One Republic's Ryan Tedder for Brit Award nominee and X-Factor winner Leona Lewis. "Bleeding Love" is already No 6 on iTunes, became the top selling single in the UK in 2007 and is currently one of the most played songs at radio across the world.

Since releasing his debut solo album, Beautiful Soul in 2004, McCartney quickly went multi-platinum, racking up No 1 chart positions all over the world, from Australia to Italy to Japan. McCartney garnered countless award nominations including an American Music Award for Best New Artist, an MTV Award for Best Pop Video, as well as several Kid's Choice and Teen Choice wins and most recently was nominated for a 2008 Kid's Choice Award in the "Best Movie Category" for his role in "Alvin and The Chipmunks." As an actor, Jesse garnered two Emmy nominations, starred in the hit TV show "Summerland", and recently lent his voice to Theodore in the box office smash "Alvin & The Chipmunks" and "Horton Hears a Who" which releases on March 14th, 2008.
With all this success under his belt on the eve of his 21st birthday, there's no telling what McCartney's next destination will be.
