MONTREAL, Canada (Top40 Charts/ Ease Down Official Website) - THE BAND: The Ease Down blends Canadian Indie rock with Broadway-infused playfulness and rootsy songwriting of by-gone eras. Bandleader Ben Wilkins grew up as the home-schooled son of an Evangelical minister in London, Ontario. Heavily influenced by his days singing in his church choir and high school musicals, Wilkins went on to graduate from the Schulich School of
Music at McGill University where he studied classical theory, the trumpet, as well as jazz harmony and arranging. Wilkins, who plays piano and is lead vocalist for The Ease Down, is joined by Alex Dray on the kit and Armen Forget on electric bass. Often compared to
Ben Folds Five, The Ease Down are bringing back the piano pop trio and livening up stages across North America.
THE ALBUM: Shapeshifter, the band's debut album, merges small town angst with big city visions, youthful ignorance with aged cynicism, and stripped down melodies with operatic choruses. The album's ten tracks are amorphous, free in form and smoothly shifting between textures and grooves, making the album's title quite apropos.
RECENT AND UPCOMING SHOWS: Coming off strong performances in Canada including festival showcases at Toronto's North by Northeast Festival, POP Montreal, and Canadian Music week, the band will be appearing in four April US shows.
