LOS ANGELES, CA. (Top40 Charts/ Amtrak Media Relations) - Actor and Recording Artist, Drake Bell will perform at Los Angeles Union Station at a free concert to help Amtrak celebrate its first annual National Train Day on Saturday, May 10, 2008. The concert is scheduled for 2:30 p.m., in the station's historic ticket concourse.

Bell has developed a dedicated fan base through his roles on Nickelodeon's The Amanda Show (starring Amanda Bynes) and Drake and Josh. He grew up listening to the classic rock of the 60's, and this influence is clearly demonstrated in the catchy harmonies and hooks of his guitar-driven, pop/rock sound. Often compared to artists such as Jason Mraz and John Mayer, Bell's music will appeal to audiences of all ages. He recently appeared on several national talk shows to promote his new movie, 'Superhero Movie.'

'We're thrilled that Drake Bell will be celebrating National Train Day with us,' said Emmett Fremaux, Amtrak's Vice President, Marketing & Product Development. 'Whether you're a frequent train passenger or you're new to train travel, we welcome you to attend the National Train Day event in Los Angeles to have a great time and learn more about the vital role rail plays in our nation's transportation system.'

The date of National Train Day, May 10, holds special meaning as it is the anniversary of the completion of the first transcontinental railroad at Promontory Summit, Utah in 1869. At Promontory Summit, the east coast and west coast were connected for the first time by rail. From Promontory Summit in 1869 to the creation of Amtrak in 1970 to the launch of Acela Express in 2000, Amtrak employees across the country will celebrate the history of train travel while looking towards the future on National Train Day. For more information on National Train Day and planned events, visit NationalTrainDay.com.

Los Angeles Union Station, located at 800 N. Alameda Street, is one of four of Amtrak's largest stations (Washington, New York and Chicago) where visitors may take part in a variety of activities including this live performance, photography exhibits, trip planning, children's activities, VIP appearances and trip giveaways scheduled throughout that day.

The station is served by five Amtrak routes, (Coast Starlight, Pacific Surfliner, Southwest Chief, Sunset Limited and the Texas Eagle) a total of 36 trains a day. The station is considered a national landmark, as well as a historic Los Angeles monument.
