New York, NY. (Top40 Charts/ 1650 Entertainment) - When melodies that leave you humming all day meet playful lyrics that evoke images of tigers on treadmills and poke fun of couples mixing up their matching pajamas, the result is Josh Fix's debut album 'Free At Last' (1650 Entertainment). Channeling Queen, Supertramp and Chopin, Josh Fix is a multi-instrumentalist and songwriter loud and unleashed for the first time.

From the first person tales detailing his turn from working stiff to "freedom" on "Don't Call Me In The Morning" and "Tiger On A Treadmill" to relationships recounted on "Rock and Roll Slut" and "Burn It Down," Fix's narratives are chock full of dark wit. But paired with layers of harmonies and a wall of sweet sounds Fix can even yell "biatch" or speak of a friend's suicide and make it sound like a party.

It was probably hard to believe at the time when he was secretly living in the filing room in the financial office building at which he worked that Josh Fix would be a star on the rise but obstacles aren't something in his vocabulary. The South African born now Bay Area resident left his pre-law academics at Bates College in Maine after some personal tragedies and while working on an oilrig had a musical epiphany. The over achiever returned to Bates and set out to write a symphony as his thesis.

Odd jobs and modest living spaces allowed Fix to purchase a digital recording studio and create an EP 'Steinway the Hard Way.' The EP won a local GRAMMY chapter competition in 2004 and landed Fix a gig replacing an ailing Counting Crows to open for The Who. The fairy tale doesn't end there. The label releasing Fix's first full album is owned by the children of the late legendary songwriter/producer Bert Berns ("Twist and Shout", "Piece of My Heart" "Hang on Sloopy").
Cassandra and Brett Berns, floored by Fix's talent as a self-contained artist, are carrying forward their father's independent vision of developing Fix from the same 1650 Broadway offices that their dad brought up Neil Diamond and Van Morrison.
Fix plays Arlene's Grocery (95 Stanton St, between Orchard and Ludlow) every Tuesday beginning May 6th leading up to the release of 'Free At Last' on May 27th.
