BURBANK, CA. (Top40 Charts/ Warner Bros. Records) -
Eric Hutchinson will launch a co-headlining tour with Marie Digby on May 20th - the same day that Warner Bros. Records releases his full-length debut album, "Sounds Like This."
Justin Nozuka will be the supporting act on the tour, which commences in Minneapolis, MN and concludes in Omaha, NE on July 2nd. Hutchinson will play the first annual Mile High
Music Festival in Commerce City, CO on July 19th.
"Rock & Roll," the first single from "Sounds Like This," will be used in a scene and in the end credits of "The Sisterhood of the Traveling Pants 2," which is due in theatres August 8th and stars Amber Tamblyn ("The Grudge 2"), America Ferrera ("Ugly Betty"), Blake Lively ("Gossip Girl") and Alexis Bledel ("Gilmore Girls"). The single has also been tapped by FOX's "This Week In Baseball," which will utilize it in its highlight reel on May 24th. "Rock & Roll" goes to radio in June. The accompanying video was recently lensed in Los Angeles by acclaimed U.K. director David Mullett (Babyshambles, Lucky Soul, Vinyl) and features a cameo appearance by Perez Hilton (who was one of the first to champion Hutchinson's music).
A dynamic live artist, Hutchinson just wrapped up a tour with Blind Melon and was on the road earlier this year with OneRepublic and Jack's Mannequin. He was recently hailed as one of SXSW's biggest buzz bands by Entertainment Weekly's website, www.ew.com, which said his "tunes struck a glam-rock/classic-rock compromise somewhere between the Stones and the Scissor Sisters." The Washington Post found him "undeniably charismatic" in concert while Time Out New York praised "Sounds Like This" as "a radio-ready folk-pop-soul disc that seems as if it came easier than breathing to the Maryland songsmith... you've gotta give him credit for the sheer unassuming good vibes emanating from these Sublime-meets-Billy Joel hookfests."
Hutchinson recorded "Sounds Like This" with producers Will Golden (Joe Purdy) and Paul Kolderie (Radiohead) and initially released it last fall on his own label, Let's Break Records. Soon the album was breaking records - landing at No 5 on iTunes' Top 10 album chart to become the highest-charting album by an unsigned act in iTunes history. It debuted at No 1 on Billboard's Heatseekers chart, at No 5 on Billboard's Digital chart and entered the Billboard 200 at No 134 - with no physical product in stores at the time. Numerous labels courted him and he signed with Warner Bros.
