New York, NY. (Top40 Charts/ The Yard) - Sunday Best! takes over The Yard, a leafy waterside lot on the Gowanus Canal for a nice, mid-afternoon barbecue. It's no ordinary weenie roast, though. The bar-b's organic and resident DJs Justin Carter, Eamon Harkin and Doug Singer play alongside some of the finest DJs to ever take on a back yard...Gussie up to get down at the brand new, easy-going, late afternoon, barbecue cum dance party - every Sunday throughout the summer (May 25-August 31).

Eamon, a full-blooded Irish New Yorker, is a resident of Studio B's epic FUN party as well as DJ booth partner to Afrika Bambaataa from time to time; Doug, one half of the brothers'brothers duo, introduced New York party people to the Water Taxi Beach with Rebound and maintains a residency there at The Beach Party; and Justin Carter is a DJ and man-behind-the-scenes at such New York institutions as Nublu, APT, Easy Lover, and that same Saturday night Beach Party that Doug plays.

They kick it off on Memorial Day weekend with a gent who hasn't rocked a turntable in our fair city in a New York minute: Mr. Roy Davis, Jr, a Chicago house legend and a pioneer of acid house.

The next Sunday sees King Britt dropping in for a visit. To boot, our day with the former Digable Planets member and original Ovum Records artist is completely free! On June 8, Trusme, a Manchester man walking in the very large shoes of Moodymann leads the grassy outpost through a lovely fusion of disco, boogie and house. The next week provides a little taste of Berlin with Stefan Goldmann, an Innervisions artist whose jangling, melodic tracks are all at once chugging and beautiful, and the original, legendary eclectic DJ, Afrika Bambaataa himself, drops in for the first weekend of summer. He's followed by Rick Wilhite and Jerome Derradji. Rick is an original Detroit techno and house artist and a member of the seminal Detroit supergroup Three Chairs, and Jerome is the chief of the excellently diverse and high quality label Still Music.

July begins with some UK re-rubbing by way of Get Physical's own Riton, and then goes back to the beginnings of dance music with Detroit legend Kevin Saunderson doing a special house set. On July 20, the excellently deep Heidelberg-ian David Moufang, aka Move D, provides the atmosphere, and on July 27, the boys from Wurst—My Cousin Roy and Lee Douglas take over the lot for their own special Wurst BBQ.

Then it gets hot. Because it's August. And because we've got Danny Wang, John Tejada, Pilooski, and Joakim leading us through the dog days. Danny, a former New Yorker and current Berlin resident, is a progenitor of disco house, and he's mentioned something about costumes for his set at the Yard. Californian John Tejada has been making some of the most lush and bumpy techno of the past decade, and his live sets, one of which he's promised, are always superb. Pilooski and Joakim, two Frenchmen with tendencies toward strange and funky things, are likely to drop things you never thought you could dance to.

Closing out the series are hometown heroes Metro Area, two gents by the names of Morgan Geist and Darshan Jesrani, whose productions have been keeping disco alive and well since before anyone thought it was cool. They're the perfect closers for the series: free and easy...
