NEW YORK, NY. (Top40 Charts/ Dada Entertainment) - Dada Entertainment (www.dada.net), the joint venture between Dada USA, Inc. and SONY BMG MUSIC ENTERTAINMENT, today announced the addition of DRM-free MP3s to its product suite. The new offering complements the full range of mobile products that Dada already makes available to its members through mobile and Web storefronts, including ringtones, mobile wallpapers and games.
Music fans who sign up for Dada are given 15 tokens per month for only $9.99. Each token can be redeemed for one download of a ringtone, or other mobile content including wallpapers and games. In addition, and as an alternative to downloading only mobile content, Dada members now have the option to download full songs in the MP3 format to their computer. These MP3 tracks can subsequently be transferred to any mobile phone, iPod or digital music player. Dada expects to be able to offer users over-the-air MP3 downloads to mobile devices in the coming months.
SONY BMG's catalog is currently available through the network, and the joint venture expects to add content from other labels in the near future. Dada users are billed for the service through their phone bill via Premium SMS.
'Today's announcement of a next-generation music storefront is only possible because of our unique ability to meld the technological superiority of Dada with SONY BMG's incredible artist catalog,' said Massimiliano Pellegrini, Dada Entertainment's CEO. 'By adding MP3 downloads to our existing products, such as ringtones and wallpapers, we are giving our customers a comprehensive entertainment experience that spans the web and mobile spaces.'
Dada Entertainment also today announced the repurposing and renaming of its existing social network into a more music-oriented community called The Music Movement. Still in its infancy, "The Music Movement," when fully operational, will allow Dada users to discover new artists and network with existing members and communities at the same time. The Music Movement will also enable users to create a personal page where they can share their likes and dislikes through personalized playlists, images and blog posts.
The Music Movement will also act as a promotional tool for artists and labels by providing fans with the opportunity to interact directly with their favorite musicians through community features like mobile alerts, up-to-date concert information and exclusive contests.
The service is currently available to users from AT&T, Sprint, T-Mobile, Alltel, Virgin, Cellular One, Boost, Cricket, and Nextel.
'We're thrilled to be able to offer our customers exactly what they've been asking for,' said Massimiliano Pellegrini, Dada's CEO. 'By introducing both mobile content and MP3 downloads for the PC, we're not only offering consumers more for their money, we're giving them more than anyone else in the industry. We're excited to take this new step forward, and set the standard for the next generation social-driven music storefront.'
