New York, NY. (Top40 Charts/ Shore Fire Media) - Sonya Kitchell will be making an exclusive full-band appearance at the Mercury Lounge on June 24th to debut material from her upcoming release 'This Storm' (Decca/ Velour - September 2) - the follow up to her critically lauded debut, 'Words Came Back To Me.' The Mercury Lounge will be a special stop for the artist, who will be in the midst of a national tour singing in jazz legend Herbie Hancock's band - she lent her vocals to the Joni Mitchell penned "All I Want" for his Grammy winning album 'River: The Joni Letters.' The night before her Mercury Lounge performance, Sonya will be playing with Herbie at Carnegie Hall. Produced by Grammy Award winner Malcolm Burn (Peter Gabriel, Daniel Lanois, Bob Dylan), 'This Storm' is Sonya's first new release since 'Words Came Back To Me' (2006). 'Words' ended up selling over 100,000 records and led the artist to major national and international exposure, including appearances on Late Night with David Letterman and NPR's 'All Things Considered.' For 'Words' the LA Times raved: "her engaging voice is only one part of the package. Add that to her songwriting, her expressive interpretations, her sophisticated musical choices and her slender, blonde beauty." Redbook cheered: "Sonya Kitchell packs a powerful vocal punch on her sultry debut." Who: Sonya Kitchell What: Performance Previewing Her New Material Where: Mercury Lounge - 217 E.
