NEW YORK (Top40 Charts/ One Eleven Records) - If the past few years have taught us anything, it's that Americans are in love with the Scandinavian musical underground. Bands like the Shout Out Louds, The Knife, 120 Days, El Perro Del Mar and many others have shown that romantic rock balladry and fatalistic Nordic gloom are a natural match. Now you can add to this assemblage brooding Swedish rockers The Windupdeads, who will release their self-titled debut October 7th, 2008 on One Eleven Records.

The Windupdeads is a collection of deliciously moody, artful and emotionally forthright indie-rock songs, each one instantly ingratiating, earnest and sharply-performed. Full of anthemic choruses and sweeping melodies from the opener "Options," alternating between morbid verses and upbeat choruses, to the rootsy "Someday" and the aching "The End," the debut work by this Swedish combo is set to steal the hearts of lovelorn indie rockers around the globe.

The Windupdeads were first introduced stateside when their track "Reverse Of Shade" was used on the CW's Gossip Girl. Without a note of music officially released in the U.S., TWUD's catchy melodic tones, combined with the hippest show on American network television, led to both web curiosity and international anticipation.

Formed in the summer of 2007, The Windupdeads band members Rickard Olsen (lead vocals, guitar), Jonas Westholm (bass) and Marcus von Boisman (drums, keyboards, backing vocals) previously played together in a project called froid. After bringing in Petter Ingman on guitar & mandolin, The Windupdeads emerged.

"Everything has finally fallen into place and we couldn't be more excited about this album," asserts the band.

The first video from The Windupdeads, "On Your Way Out," was directed by the band's own Marcus von Boisman. An ethereal ballad, it's earned the band copious comparisons to Parachutes-era Coldplay - and in the "On Your Way Out" clip, The Windupdeads pay a visual tribute to Chris Martin's storied combo.

In addition to presenting us with their landmark debut album, watch for The Windupdeads to be hitting the U.S. for the first time ever later this year.
The Windupdeads release their self-titled debut October 7th, 2008 on One Eleven Records.
