New York, NY. (Top40 Charts/ Shore Fire Media) - Labelle, R's most original and formidable trio, will perform at the Essence Music Festival in New Orleans on Saturday, July 5th at the Louisiana Superdome. Patti LaBelle, Nona Hendryx, and Sarah Dash, recently announced that they have reunited and will release their first full-length studio album in more than 33 years on Verve Records Sept 23rd, 2008. The Essence Music Festival is the first public concert by Labelle since January 1977 at Painters Mill in Owings, Mill, MD. The music trailblazers will perform a short set including the iconic song "Lady Marmalade," a song rooted in New Orleans as it was recorded there over 30 years ago, and produced by New Orleans legendary musician, Allen Toussaint. Featuring tracks produced by Lenny Kravitz and the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame production team Gamble Huff, Labelle promise to deliver their signature vocal firepower and genre-defying sound to the as-yet-untitled new album. Labelle's long-awaited return to the studio signifies yet another chapter in the historic legacy of the group.
