Nashville, TN. (Top40 Charts/ Fourth And Goal) - Country music crooners Tracy Byrd (Blind Mule) and Tracy Lawrence (Rocky Comfort Records) teamed up to participate in the inaugural Smith & Nephew Fourth & Goal Classic-a two-day charity event held this past weekend for the benefit of Fourth and Goal, an independent national non-profit public benefit corporation established as the official " Voice" of the NFL retiree and to provide financial assistance to retired NFL players and their families who are in immediate need. To kick things off, Byrd and Lawrence played in the Celebrity Scramble Golf Tournament held on Saturday morning, June 28, at the Atlantic City Country Club. Their 5-member team included Frank Winters of the Green Bay Packers, Billy Graham (Acquisitions & Finance, Ronnie Gilley Entertainment/Ronnie Gilley Properties) and musician Joe Caverlee. The good ole country-boy team competed against 24 teams comprised of 26 NFL Greats including 17 Pro Football Hall of Famers and a 2008 Hall of Fame Inductee (Andre Tippett of the New England Patriots). Under extreme temperatures, heavy pressure and 18 holes later, the Byrd/Lawrence Team WON the tournament! The winning players were each awarded a SkyCaddie GPS system and a Nike Tiger Woods Driver. That evening, Byrd and Lawrence played a live concert at the House of Blues/Showboat Casino (Atlantic City). The Smith & Nephew Fourth & Goal Classic event raised over $50,000 for the benefit of Fourth And Goal.
