NEW YORK, NY. (Top40 Charts/ Atlantic Records) - Chop Shop/Atlantic recording group the Republic Tigers have announced details of their upcoming live schedule. The Kansas City-based quintet is touring in support of its critically acclaimed debut album, "KEEP COLOR," which is now available in stores and at online retailers.
The headline tour kicks off July 19th at the Conservatory in Oklahoma City, and then travels the western half of the nation through early August (see below itinerary). A further slate of North American tour dates will be announced in the coming weeks.
With "KEEP COLOR," the Republic Tigers have arrived with an impressive breadth of vision that instantly marks them as something extraordinary. Epic, yet intimate, tracks like "Made Concrete" and the towering "Buildings & Mountains" see the band quintet weaving future folk, euphoric psychedelia, and exuberant symphonic pop with intricately crafted electronic textures and uncommon emotional depth.
The band's bold and beautiful music has already been prominently featured in a number of highly rated TV series, including ABC's "Grey's Anatomy" and the CW's "Gossip Girl." In addition, the Republic Tigers recently made their network television debut, performing "Buildings & Mountains" on CBS' "Late Show with David Letterman."
The Republic Tigers recently performed live on KCRW's Morning Becomes Eclectic and spent a considerable amount of time in the station's Top 10. Visit https://www.kcrw.com/music/programs/mb/mb080512the_republic_tigers to listen/watch their Morning Becomes Eclectic performance.
"Buildings & Mountains" is rapidly becoming an alternative favorite, having just been added into rotation at XM Satellite Radio. What's more, the track's companion video clip - directed by Brian Savelson (Band of Horses) - was recently featured as AOL Music's "Video of the Day," and can be viewed online at the band's own YouTube channel, www.youtube.com/therepublictigers. The band will also be featured on AOL's "About To Pop" beginning July 10th.
The Republic Tigers have spent much of the past year on the road, taking great care to translate their music's elaborate energy to fit the constraints of live performance. In recent months, the band has shared stages with such artists as Nada Surf, the Hold Steady, and the Virgins, and only just wrapped a series of East Coast co-headline shows alongside Tally Hall.
Released in May, "KEEP COLOR" has since earned high praise from a wide range of publications and online outlets. "An excellent collection of acoustic guitars, backing ooohhhs and aaahhhs, sailing keys, and frontman Kenn Jankowski's hushed vocals," raved Spin.com, "all covered in an ethereal, smooth production." The Kansas City Star hailed it as "an album that reveals new rewards with each visit," while Blackbook declared it "...a tapestry of instrumentals and perfected harmonies."
The Boston Globe celebrated the Republic Tigers as "a band with both confidence in its vision and an accessible playfulness." URB noted that "The KC five-piece combines genuinely delightful acoustics with the bloopity-bops that are always in demand." "Their songs contrast subtle and anthemic all at once," applauded My Old Kentucky Blog. "Mixing guitar-driven psych-pop and folk-rock with layered vocal harmonies and electronic backgrounds give this album a soaring yet relaxing vibe."
