COACHELLA, CA. (Top40 Charts/ Spotlight 29 Casino) - From their humble beginnings in the Thirteenth Ward of Valance Street in New Orleans, the Neville Brothers - Art, Charles, Aaron and Cyril - have become the world-famous first family of funk. Now they are bringing their jazzed up funk style to Spotlight 29 Casino in a concert not to be missed on August 30. The concert is the finale of the casino's "Summer of Fun," and the funkiest has been saved for last. The Neville Brothers invigorated the jazz and funk music scene with their landmark 1976 album Wild Tchoupitoulas. Their follow-up self-titled Neville Brothers (1977) album began to establish the band as a new leading force in music. However, despite its success, label after label passed on signing the Neville Brothers for an additional album, that is, until Bette Midler heard them at Tipitina's in New Orleans. She convinced A&M's Jerry Moss to sign them, and the result was 1981's Fiyo on the Bayou, which was followed in 1989 with Yellow Moon. Decades of success have followed, allowing the Nevilles to expand their musical universe and also become more introspective and autobiographical. Charles has said, "The older we've gotten, the more adamant we are about forging our own production and focusing on songs that express our innermost beliefs." Tickets for the Neville Brothers are $50 and $40 and are available now at Spotlight29.com and at the Spotlight 29 Casino Gift Shop or by calling (800) 585-3737. Show time is 8 p.m. Put the spotlight on fun at Spotlight 29 Casino, the Coachella Valley's most exciting place to play.
