LOS ANGELES (Top40 Charts/ JC Communications) - Rocking the Boat: A Musical Conversation and Journey, the documentary concert film that stars three-time Grammy winner Delbert McClinton and a host of his musical friends, has been released in a deluxe DVD edition which includes more than one hour of bonus footage, plus a new DTS and 5.1 surround sound mix. Directed by Jay Curlee for JC Communications, the DVD is being nationally distributed by Burnside Distribution.
Against the backdrop of Delbert McClinton's 2006 'Sandy Beaches' cruise, which he inaugurated in 1995, Rocking the Boat: A Musical Conversation and Journey charts the Texas roadhouse music legend's career from the start, and with rare photographs and video, as well as the recent footage, shows audiences the full power of what has made him one of the most beloved live performers in music today.
The new DVD is chock full of McClinton fans' most requested live songs, including 'B-Movie Boxcar Blues,' 'Two More Bottles of Wine,' 'Shakey Ground,' Never Been Rocked Enough' and many others. In-depth interviews with Delbert McClinton and several of his closest musician friends tell the story of his career from its beginnings in Fort Worth, Texas to his current place as a true musical legend.
Aboard for the ride are many of the artists, all chosen by McClinton himself, who have made the 'Sandy Beaches' cruise one of the most popular of its kind, with over 1,200 fans signed on every year for a week-long voyage of non-stop music and fun in the Caribbean. Artists featured performing in the film include Marcia Ball, Rodney Crowell, Stephen Bruton, Wayne Toups, Jimmy Hall, Al Anderson, Tommy Castro, Paul Thorn, Mingo Fishtrap and Teresa James. The result is a musical gumbo embracing styles from rock, blues and country, to funk, zydeco and rhythm and blues. Texas music icon Kinky Friedman also makes a special interview appearance in the film in his inimitable style.
