New York, NY. (Top40 Charts/ Shore Fire Media) - Curtis Peoples, one of Los Angeles' most popular indie singer-songwriters, will tour nationally again this summer. This time he'll be playing songs from his self-titled debut album, out August 19th from The Control Group/Galt Line Music, and his tourmates will include Keaton Simons, Todd Carey,
Tony Lucca and Tyler Hilton (who co-wrote one of the songs on the album).
Whether Curtis is in acoustic mode, as in the tender "All I Want," or rocking out, as on the first single "Back Where I Started," he gives each performance his all. 'Every performing musician needs to be a rock star," he explains. "You're there to entertain people, and they need to feel you're doing everything you can.'
Curtis is looking forward to meeting fans across the country. And he's especially excited about his album release parties at two historic venues, The Roxy in Los Angeles (August 19th) and New York's Bitter End (August 22nd). "They're both so cool," he enthuses. "I remember the first time I played the Roxy - when the curtain rose I felt like I was in an arena!"
The athletic, sports-crazed Peoples prepares like an athlete for every show, stretching to his own mixes and warming up his expressive voice. That's appropriate, as he'll be singing the national anthem July 30th at Dodgers Stadium (televised on KCAL and MLB-TV). Peoples first sang the notoriously difficult tune a cappella at his high school graduation in San Diego, but admits he's going over the lyrics again to be sure he gets it right.
What are his show audiences like? "Ninety percent female," he grins. "But that's why I call what I do 'coffeeshop arena rock' - my voice is definitely dude-friendly!"
