LOS ANGELES, CA. (Top40 Charts/ Blaster Records) - Cleveland-based melodic rock powerhouse Genuine Sun (www.genuinesunmusic.com) said "hello" to the Top Ten on last week's FMQB AC40 chart with their debut single "Goodbye," which reached No 10 behind superstar acts Mindi Abair, Maroon 5, Natasha Bedingfield,
Sara Bareilles and American Idol winner
David Cook. "
Goodbye" is the first release from the group's debut album Return, which was released on Cleveland's Blaster Records earlier this summer.
The band has a packed schedule throughout August and September in Ohio, beginning with their August 1 date at the Brothers Lounge in Lakewood and continuing with stops in Mentor (August 9), Cincinnati (August 12), Cleveland (August 19), Columbus (September 12) and back to Cincinnati (September 13). On September 17, Genuine Sun is scheduled to perform at the Radio & Records (R&R) Convention in Austin, Texas, and they will be hitting Kelly's Pub in Tampa, Florida, on October 4. Genuine Sun's lead singer and songwriter Dave Ritz and his longtime friends, Adam Marra (lead guitar), Joey Gerbasi (drums) and bassist Tim Kollar, have been performing a grueling gig schedule all over the Midwest, with regular shows at hotspots like The House of Blues in Cleveland, Bogarts in Cincinnati, the Newport Theatre in Columbus and the Hard Rock Cafe in Philly, Chicago and Nashville. In support of Return, the group has been performing in cities across the U.S. this summer, including shows in Lakewood, Columbus, Atlanta, Las Vegas, Wyoming, Minneapolis and Austin.
"Goodbye," the group's first single, is a playful and wistful reflection on summer love, and has proven to be the perfect soundtrack anthem for the coming season. The song showcases lead singer and songwriter Dave Ritz's optimism and overall songwriting vibe, and according to Ritz, "captures those special moments you create with someone you know is just a temporary light in your life."
Genuine Sun is the first band signed to Cleveland upstart label Blaster Records. Blaster Records is the creation of Tom Porter, chairman of Cleveland's Blaster Chemicals which boasts over 50 years of manufacturing penetrants, lubricants, rust inhibitors and formulas for the automotive, industrial and hardware industries. Porter discovered the band at a 2006 benefit at the House of Blues.
