NEW YORK, NY. (Top40 Charts/ Atlantic Records) - Decaydance/Fueled By Ramen recording group The Academy Is... have announced details of their upcoming North American co-headline tour. Dubbed "Bill & Trav's Bogus
Journey Tour," the multi-artist bill - also featuring We The Kings, Carolina Liar, and
Hey Monday - will hit the road on October 1st at Charlotte, North Carolina's Amos' Southend, and then travel the continent through late-November (see below itinerary). Among the schedule's highlights is an eagerly awaited date at the Chicago-based band's hometown House of Blues, set for November 6th. Presale tickets for "Bill & Trav's Bogus
Journey Tour" will be offered to TAI fanclub members beginning tomorrow, August 19th, at 3 pm in each time zone; additional presale tickets will be available the next day via the band's www.theacademyis.com. All remaining tickets will then go on sale to the general public on Saturday, August 23rd.
The tour sees The Academy Is... celebrating the release of their third album, "FAST TIMES AT BARRINGTON HIGH," which is in stores tomorrow. The collection - produced by Sam Hollander and Dave Katz (Gym Class Heroes, Metro Station) in New York City - features the first single, "About A Girl," now impacting at Alternative, Triple A, and Top 40 radio outlets nationwide, with its companion video premiering the week of September 22nd. The band's viral video for "Summer Hair = Forever Young" will receive a "First Look" on MTV's TRL this Thursday, August 21st.
Having just wrapped their summer co-headlining the Vans Warped Tour, The Academy Is... will next hit Australia and New Zealand for a long-awaited series of late-August dates with labelmates Panic At The Disco and Cobra Starship. From there, the band heads to Japan for a pair of Decaydance Fest shows alongside Cobra Starship, The Cab, and The Hush Sound. In September, The Academy Is... will cross the Atlantic for a number of UK dates with We The Kings and The Maine.
"FAST TIMES AT BARRINGTON HIGH" follows the band's acclaimed second album, "SANTI." Released in April 2007, the album - which featured the single/video, "We've Got A Big Mess On Our Hands" - drew ecstatic praise, including a cover feature in Alternative Press magazine. The band was feted in Rolling Stone as one of 2007's "10 Artists To Watch," where "SANTI" was hailed for combining "heart-on-sleeve melodrama with a hard-rock swagger." USA Today declared the album "bigger in every way than its predecessor," hailing the band for "coming of age, tightening its chops, beefing up its rhythm-section stomp and showing off frontman William Beckett's range."
