BURBANK, CA. (Top40 Charts/ Warner Bros. Records) -
Fresh off a headlining slot on this summer's Vans Warped Tour,
Against Me! have announced that they will hit the road with Ted Leo and the Pharmacists on
September 30th, 2008. The tour, which also features
Future of the Left, will criss-cross the U.S. through the end of October.
Against Me! has been touring non-stop in support of their current album, the Butch Vig-produced New Wave, which was released by Sire Records in July 2007. Called "the most invigorating, zeitgeist-capturing rock album in years" by Spin magazine, New Wave was named the magazine's "Album of the Year," and also appeared in the Top 10 on Rolling Stone, Blender, and MTV.com's year-end "Best Album" lists. New Wave has spawned two singles, "White People for Peace" and "Thrash Unreal," which became the band's first single to chart in the U.S. when it climbed to No. 11 on the Modern Rock chart.
The band, which includes frontman Tom Gabel, guitarist James Bowman, bassist Andrew Seward, and drummer Warren Oakes, recently shot a video for the track "Borne on the FM Waves Of The Heart." The clip features a guest appearance by Tegan Quin from Canadian songwriting duo Tegan and Sara, who also duets on the album track with Gabel.
In other news, Against Me! will be featured in an upcoming 30-minute special on FOX's Fuel TV called Check 1, 2, which will air early 2009. The episode will include unique performance footage filmed exclusively for Fuel TV, as well as behind-the-scenes footage and interviews from the band's final day of their headlining Warped Tour run.
Against Me! will begin work on the follow-up to New Wave early next year.
