SANTA MONICA, CA. (Top40 Charts/ Interscope Records) -
OneRepublic announces the launch of its first headlining tour, "Tag This Tour!" 2008 on October 23 in Fairfax, VA. Augustana, The Spill Canvas and The Hush Sound are on board as supporting opening acts.
The group's lead singer, Ryan Tedder said, "We really wanted to put a great bill together and give everyone a real bang for their buck! The economy sucks and we think fans deserve a break!"
"Tag This Tour!" 2008 will feature unique contests centered around online social networking between fans and the band.
"We wanted to do something for the fans to let everyone be involved with the tour. We can't let on just yet what's in store but we want our fans to be prepared to have some fun with it," said Tedder.
The tour, produced by Live Nation, comes on the heels of unprecedented retail and digital action surrounding the group's first Interscope release, Dreaming Out Loud, and THE ALBUM'S FIRST 2 SINGLES: "Apologize" and "STOP & STARE"
"Apologize" and its accompanying video have generated historic numbers. IT is now the most LEGALLY downloaded song in U.S. digital history, with combined sales of over 4.3 million digital downloads in the U.S. alone, effectively shattering all previous records for digital downloading. At Top 40 radio, the song generated a record ***(Mediabase had us at 10,690 in 1 week FYI)***??? spins in one week alone, while the video has an incredible 88 million combined views of both the original song and a remix by super-producer Timbaland. ALREADY PLATINUM WORLDWIDE, Dreaming Out Loud is fast approaching Platinum sales of 1,000,000 units IN THE U.S. AS WELL.
"Stop and Stare," OneRepublic's second single release from Dreaming Out Loud, HAS PASSED THE two million mark of digital downloads and has had TOP 5 success at multiple formats of radio. OneRepublic also has tremendous international success, achieving gold AND PLATINUM RECORD status in 12 countries. They have shared the stage with acts such as Lenny Kravitz, The Verve, and Muse at various SHOWS AND festivals around the world. Also, OneRepublic just finished the summer leg of John Mayer's tour in the U.S. receiving rave reviews everywhere.
The band will be performing "Apologize" at this year's Fashion Rocks show, presented by Conde Nast, which airs September 9th on CBS.
