BURBANK, CA. (Top40 Charts/ Warner Bros. Records) - With their new album Death Magnetic due out on Friday, September 12th, Metallica are storming the airwaves. The album's lead-off single, "The Day That Never Comes," is currently No. 1 at Mainstream Rock radio according to data compiled by airplay monitoring service Mediabase. The track is also No. 2 at Active Rock and No. 8 at Modern Rock radio.

Metallica are gearing up for the worldwide release of Death Magnetic, the hard-rock heroes' tenth studio album, which was produced by Rick Rubin. Early reviews have praised the album for its "reassuring sense of danger" (Los Angeles Times) and "compositions that are nasty and complex" (New York Times). British metal bible Kerrang! wrote that "Metallica once again sound like one of the most exciting bands in the world" and have "managed to harness their talent and instinct into a modern metal album that makes a mockery of the modern competition." Death Magnetic is the band's first studio album since 2003's multi-platinum St. Anger, which hit No. 1 in 30 countries and has sold nearly six million copies worldwide.

In addition, Metallica have announced that tickets for the band's first proper tour of the United States and Canada in four years will go on sale on September 13th. The first leg of the tour begins on October 21st and will cross North America through fall and early winter before concluding on January 21st.
