Nashville, TN. (Top40 Charts/ Universal Music Publishing Group) - Pat Higdon, EVP/General Manager, Universal Music Publishing Group - Nashville today announced the successful re-signing of hit-making songwriter Troy Verges to an exclusive, world-wide publishing deal.

Troy Verges has become one of UMPG's most heralded success stories. Not only was he named BMI Country Songwriter of the Year and NSAI Songwriter of the Year in 2002, but he also scored numerous hits for artists around the globe. These include artists as diverse as Faith Hill, Tim McGraw, Carrie Underwood, and Martina McBride to Celine Dion, Marco Borsato and Bon Jovi.

Commented Pat Higdon, "It's really been a privilege to work with a writer as talented and professional as Troy.

I'm really proud of what he has accomplished over the past few years and we're excited about the opportunity to continue to build on his string of hits."

"Pat Higdon and Whitney Williams have been believers in me since day one of my career. I feel extremely fortunate for the opportunity to move forward with them and with UMPG," said Troy Verges.

After Verges placed "Love Is A Sweet Thing" on Faith Hill's Breathe album, a line formed to be the first to listen to Verges songs. Within a year of the Faith Hill record, Verges scored No. 1 songs on Jessica Andrews' "Who I Am" and Martina McBride's "Blessed," from her Greatest Hits collection. He then followed with a trio of Top 5 hits on Trisha Yearwood's "I Would've Loved You Anyway," Lonestar's "With Me," and Andy Griggs "Tonight I Wanna Be Your Man." In 2002 Verges was named BMI Country Songwriter of the Year and the NSAI Songwriter of the Year. Verges continued his string of hits with Carrie Underwood's No. 1 single "Wasted," Tim McGraw's "Drugs or Jesus" and Kenny Chesney's "You Save Me."

His songs have been cut by Keith Urban, Taylor Swift, Il Divo, Paulina Rubio, Sara Evans, LeAnn Rimes, Jessica Simpson, Trace Adkins, Kellie Pickler, Backstreet Boys, and Rascal Flatts to name a few.

With an active and aggressive staff of current songwriters, UMPG Nashville continually delivers material that becomes hits for country music's most elite artists including Reba McEntire, Brad Paisley, Gretchen Wilson, Trace Adkins, Lee Ann Womack, Keith Urban, Carrie Underwood, Tim McGraw, Rascal Flatts, Brooks and Dunn and many more. The UMPG Nashville music catalog spans the width of the musical landscape, from the 1940's Folk/Blues of the Delmore Brothers, the 1950's and 1960's classics of Carl Perkins, Johnny Cash and Buddy Holly, country classics from Webb Pierce, Brenda Lee, Mel Tillis, and the works of Bob McDill, Rivers Rutherford, Pat Alger, Dickey Lee, Kostas, Mel Tillis, Marijohn Wilkin, Matraca Berg, Gary Burr, Ed Hill, Hugh Prestwood, Marcus Hummon, Craig Wiseman, Emmylou Harris, and many more.
