SEATTLE, WA. & LOS ANGELES, CA. (Top40 Charts/ iLike) - Jack Johnson's Brushfire Records and leading social music discovery service iLike, announced that the label's first annual holiday CD compilation, featuring a track from each artist on the Brushfire roster (including two
Jack Johnson songs and an original track written and recorded by Rogue Wave), will world premiere on iLike and iLike's Facebook app beginning today (November 6). This is the first time every Brushfire artist has been featured together on a compilation CD. Additionally, a free download of Brushfire's newest and first female recording artist, Malaysian singer Zee Avi, will also be available today, exclusively via iLike.
Brushfire's first ever holiday album, This Warm December, a Brushfire Holiday Vol. 1, is a collection of reinterpreted holiday classics performed by Jack Johnson and the entire Brushfire Family. Additionally, 25% of the profits from the album will be donated in support of children's music education. The album is currently available for pre-order only at Amazon.com and will be widely released on November 11th.
'We're happy that we can help spread some joy with these holiday songs this year, said Jack Johnson. 'It's nice to have everyone on the label on one record. We also thought it was a good opportunity to raise funds for music education for kids. Happy Holidays and have a great New Year.'
In addition to providing a free stream of the entire album, Brushfire Records is giving iLike users a free download of Malaysian singer Zee Avi's contribution to the album, 'No Christmas for Me.' Zee Avi is the first woman to be added to the Brushfire roster. Patrick Keller, drummer from the Raconteurs, suggested that the Brushfire team listen to her music, which lead to her signing. Having once performed under the stage name Koko Kaina, Zee has been described as a cross between Norah Jones and Billie Holiday and is currently recording her debut album at the Solar Power Plastic Plant, Brushfire's home studio in L.A. Backing her on several tracks are Jack Johnson's band: drummer Adam Topol, bassist Merlo Podlewski and keyboardist Zach Gill.
'This will be a special holiday treat for iLike users,' said Ali Partovi, CEO of iLike. 'Jack Johnson and each of the diverse and talented artists on his record label are inspiring us all to get into the holiday spirit while supporting a very worthwhile cause - children's music education.'

About Brushfire Records
Brushfire Records, formerly The Moonshine Conspiracy Records, started as the new music component of The Moonshine Conspiracy (TMC)-now Woodshed Films. Woodshed Films is a surf film collaborative formed by Jack Johnson, Emmett Malloy, and Chris Malloy in 1998 during the creation of their surf film Thicker Than Water. Brushfire Records was created in 2002 when Johnson along with his wife, Kim and Emmett Malloy, wanted to create their own record label to put out the soundtracks for these surf films and future music releases. Founded at The Mango Tree in Hawaii, Brushfire Records strives to make music and films that are positive and works to connect like-minded musicians and artists in the surf community and beyond. Woodshed Films and Brushfire Records have become a collective of filmmakers/musicians/artists/surfers. What started as a few friends traveling the world to create a surf film has expanded into a few more friends traveling the world making surf films, documentaries, playing music, creating art, taking photos, and enjoying and sharing life while getting their projects out to the public in the downtime.
