LOS ANGELES (Top40 Charts/ Light Club Official Website) - The debut single, "CHINESE DEMOCRACY(defiled)" from the American act, Light CLub, is set to be released to radio stations across the world (hear it on our MySpace site). The full CD name will be announced in the week prior to the 11/23/08 official CD release but it is safe to say that it will be controversial. This single is certainly getting noticed. It's similarity in name to another song by a more well known band may be part of the reason. Light Club management fully admits this but..... Light Club has a history of making waves and being controversial prior to this release. Examples of that are: 1) On June 4th, 2008, Light Club performed in front of the Chinese Embassy in Washington DC on the anniversary of the Tiananmen Square Massacre. This event was a candle light vigil ceremony for the victims of that fateful day on June 4th, 1989.. Following the event, Light Club was invited to Radio Free Asia in DC to meet program directors and DJ's broadcasting into China, Tibet and Vietnam. The band was VERY honored to be given such an opportunity. 2) Light Club's earlier released single, "Freedom First, Olympics 2nd" was chosen as the lead off single on the "Songs to Save the Word" CD released by the Human Rights Torch organization. This was a torch that circled the world at the same time the most recent Olympics Torch encouraging China to improve it's human rights record. 3) Light Club's song, "Remember Tiananmen Square" was the first ever rock song performed at a "Quit the CCP" rally according to organizers of effort. Light Club's guitarist co-wrote the song especially for that 17th anniversary of the Tiananmen Square Massaacre event. 4) The band's music and websites are banned in mainland China...for obvious reasons. So this release of Light Club's "CHINESE DEMOCRACY (defiled)" continues the band's reputation of not shying away from controversial positions. But isn't a rock band supposed to be a bit dangerous and rebellious?
