Jeff Buckley Tribute, at Uncommon Ground, 3800 Clark Street, in

This event, which is supported by the Buckley family and featured on the official Jeff Buckley web site, sells out every year in less than 10 minutes for both evening's performances. All net proceeds for the night will benefit The Old Town School of Folk Music Scholarship Fund, which allows musicians of all ages afford to attend classes. Jann has always enjoyed Jeff Buckley's music, "When he released GRACE, I listened to the album a lot, and enjoyed Jeff's songwriting, performances and production values."
While everyone hears something different in Jann's music, occasionally there has been some Jeff Buckley comparisons, including a recent comment from his touring partner, rock troubadour Elliott Murphy; the two will be touring together in December in the Northeast and January in California.
Jann's latest disc, REVERIE, was co-produced with Stewart Lerman (Loudon Wainwright III, the Roches, Dar Williams, music from the movies THE AVIATOR and STEPFORD WIVES), and is being played on over 80 stations, including THE LOFT on XM Radio.
THE WASHINGTON POST'S Marianne Meyer writes, "Jann Klose's multicultural background is evident in his music, which evokes a global pop sound ... that draws comparisons to Sting and Jacques Brel."
Chicago writers have also covered Jann, including: Paul Barile of ScoreMusicMagazine.com, "His songs sound like what I expect The Beatles would have done if they had grown old together." The Chicago Free Press' Gregg Shapiro writes, "REVERIE is a suitable name for the new full-length Jann Klose disc. From the photo of Klose in repose on the cover to the languorous mood of songs such as Give In To This Life." Cashbox Magazine's Michael Peace says, "Give In To This Life has such strong contrast between the verse and chorus that it gives me chills. ... I would consider Jann Klose to be the template or model for other artists to emulate." And Blurt's Brian Baker notes, "Klose doesn't fit comfortably in any particular genre, with jazz and pop and folk elements woven tightly into his sonic textures in a way that guarantees a relatively broad appeal across stylistic lines."
Jann was born in Mannheim, Germany, raised in Nairobi, Kenya and Johannesburg, South Africa until age 10. His family then returned to Hamburg, Germany. He came to Cleveland, Ohio as an exchange student, returned to Germany for a year to complete his civil service, and, then, started his music career in the States.
