HOLLYWOOD, CA. (Top40 Charts/ Night River Records) - Singer Songwriter Jack Tempchin, pioneering co-architect of the Southern California country-rock sound, will release his own 'SONGS' CD on November 18, 2008. SONGS, Tempchin's sixth studio album, will be distributed to stores by Burnside Distribution and will also be available on iTunes, Amazon and CDBaby.
Jack Tempchin wrote two massive hits for The Eagles: "Already Gone" and "Peaceful Easy Feeling". He also wrote the career comeback smash for Johnny Rivers entitled "Slow Dancing". His fourteen year collaboration with Glenn Frey during Frey's solo career yielded more hits, including: "You Belong To The City", "I Found Somebody", "The One You Love", and a song once featured prominently in the 1980s MIAMI VICE TV show, "Smuggler's Blues". Tempchin's version of "Smuggler's Blues" is included here on his new SONGS CD.
Jack Tempchin has had songs recorded by many great career artists over the years, including George Jones, Glenn Campbell, Chris Hillman, Randy Meisner, Richie Havens, The Paladins, New Riders Of The Purple Sage, Emmylou Harris, Tanya Tucker, Trisha Yearwood, Patty Loveless and others. His songs have been sampled by hip hop artists Jay-Z and Coolio. Most recently, he landed two cuts on the Eagles platinum release, Long Road Out Of Eden.
On the silver screen, Tempchin's music has been featured prominently in the following films: Thelma & Louise, The Big Lebowski, Homer and Eddie, Girls Just Wanna Have Fun, An American Murder, Bad Seeds, and in two Steve Martin comedies, Sgt. Bilko and The Lonely Guy.
Despite having two songs on the best selling of all time, The Eagles Their Greatest Hits 1971-1975, Jack Tempchin is not content to remain behind the scenes. On the contrary, he continues to perform primarily on the west coast with shows at Hotel Cafe in Hollywood and Calypso Cafe in San Diego.
Says Tempchin, "This album is less like a novel, and more like a book of short stories. All the songs are very different from each other. Recording this album was a fantastic adventure. I hope you enjoy the journey..." Thanks Jack, we will indeed.
