LOS ANGELES, CA. (Top40 Charts/ Luck Media & Marketing) - Twenty-five years after the No 1 era defining hit 'Flashdance...What A Feeling' made her a worldwide pop icon, Oscar, Golden
Globe and two-time Grammy winning singer/songwriter and actress Irene Cara is taking her passion and making it happen once again.
On her latest single, the multi-talented performer-who shot to stardom as one of the stars of the 1980 hit film 'Fame' and the singer of the hit title track-asks her millions of fans around the world a simple question: 'How Can I Make You Luv Me'? The response so far has been overwhelming, as the track is quickly headed towards the Top Ten as one of the most added tracks on FMQB's AC40 chart.
The success of 'How Can I Make You Luv Me,' the first release from Irene Cara Featuring Hot Caramel, the double CD set by Cara and her new all-female band, would have the makings of a great comeback story if not for one important item. While the singer has been away from the U.S. pop charts since the late '80s, she's never stopped being a global recording and touring sensation.
Throughout the '90s and 2000s, she's been a major concert attraction in Europe, Asia and Latin America, and she recently turned down offers in Dubai, Mexico and Portugal to focus on putting the finishing touches on the new CD. While scoring several Top Ten Dance hits on the European charts, she brought 'Flashdance' to a new generation via her 2001 No 1 charting revamp (in Germany, Austria, etc.) of the song with platinum selling Swiss singer, songwriter and producer DJ Bobo.
While her new group is gearing up to tour in early 2009, the group has already performed in Germany, Norway and Italy.
Hot Caramel features seven talented veteran singers and musicians from Queens, Brooklyn, New Jersey, Washington, Atlanta and Compton: vocalists Reina Yvonne Poindexter (Jennifer Holliday, Yolanda Adams) and Audrey Martell (Anastasia, Mary J. Blige), bassists Erica Poindexter and Donna Hairston, guitarist Sheryl Bailey, drummer Lafrae Olivia Sci (Wynton Marsalis) and rapper Lakia Jackson.
