Since the release of their self-titled debut CD in the late 90's, Days of the New have sold over 2 million records. Three songs from that debut, 'Touch, Peel and Stand,' 'The Down Town,' and 'Shelf in the Room,' hit No 1, with 'Touch, Peel and Stand' remaining at the top of Billboard's Rock Chart for 17 weeks, breaking the record for longest No 1 single on rock radio. A video of that single was also awarded 'Most Played Video' on MTV. All three songs remain staples of commercial rock radio. In March 2008, Geffen released a best of CD called 'Days of the New: The Definitive Collection,' to satisfy continued demand for the band's music.
Hailing from Detroit, Sponge gained international notoriety with their debut album "Rotting Pinata." Hits like "Plowed" and "Molly (16 Candles)" fueled massive airplay on radio stations from coast to coast and were in heavy rotation on MTV. After "Rotting Pinata" went Gold, the band toured internationally, sharing the stage with Soundgarden, Alice in Chains, and more recently, Iggy Pop and Nickelback. Sponge's follow up CD, the critically lauded 'Wax Ecstatic,' includes the hit songs "Wax Ecstatic" and "Have You Seen Mary?
