SANTA MONICA, Calif. (Top40 Charts/ Interscope Geffen A&M) - Grammy award nominated, constant top charter and platinum-plus selling recording star KEYSHIA COLE is more than playing her cards right -- she's got another winning hand up her sleeve. Two days before the December 16th release of her third album, A Different Me, the Grammy-nominated chanteuse will kick off the "I Am
Music Tour" in Miami, Florida on Sunday, December 14th and end on Monday, January 19th in Worcester, MA.Throughout the U.S. tour, Cole will conquer arenas alongside fellow superstars
Lil Wayne and T-Pain, as well as rap/rock group
Gym Class Heroes and upcoming singer/songwriter Keri Hilson.
The year 2008 will end on a celebratory note for KEYSHIA, who was recently awarded the Video on Demand of the Year award for "Heaven Sent" at the Music Choice "Video on Demand Awards." The awards show will be available for view on demand on Music Choice throughout the month of December.
Executive produced by Cole, manager Manny Halley, and Geffen Records Chairman Ron Fair (the executive who first noted Cole's star potential), A Different Mefeatures guest appearances by Keyshia's own artist, Amina, Nas and Monica and production from A-listers like Polow Da Don, the Trackmasters,The Runners, Kwame and Neffu.
The album's first single, "Playa Cardz Right," featuring a posthumous appearance from Cole's childhood friend Tupac Shakur, has already broken into the Top 20 at urban radio, currently holding the No. 11 spot and steadily making its way to the top spot. Filmed partially at the Tupac Memorial Center for the Arts in Stone Mountain, the "Playa Cardz Right" video has been rapidly gaining momentum. It currently holds the No. 2 spot on BET's "106 & Park" countdown, is in heavy rotation on MTV Jams, and will go into Power rotation on VH1 Soul starting today, December 1st.
As its title suggests, A Different Mewill introduce audiences to yet another layer of the complex and fascinating singer. Transformation, after all, comes naturally to the Oakland, California native. Back in 2005, she went from 'round-the-way girl to show-stopping, chart-topping celebrity with her critically acclaimed debut, The Way It Is, which contained the soul-stirring, future No. 1 singles "I Should Have Cheated" and "Love." Two years later, KEYSHIA COLE re-emerged sporting a cropped, platinum blonde 'do and showcasing a more confident yet equally visceral sound that reflected her growing maturity and self-assurance. Audiences clearly adored watching Cole blossom before their eyes. Her sophomore album, Just Like Me, spawned three No. 1 singles ("Let It Go," featuring Missy Elliott and Lil' Kim, "Heaven Sent," and "I Remember"). It also earned Cole two (2) Grammy nominations, one for Best Contemporary R&B album, as well as a nod in the Best Rap-Sung Collaboration category for "Let It Go." Now, as 2008 comes to an end, Cole is reinventing herself once again. From her raven-colored locks to her sultry image and her powerful but controlled vocals, Cole continues to surprise audiences and -- most of all -- keeps them yearning for more.
Keyshia Cole is a two time Grammy nominated singer/songwriter that has enjoyed the success of having seven (7) No 1 hit songs and several prestigious ASCAP awards under her belt. Both of her CD releases, The Way It Is and Just Like You have sold platinum-plus and she has enjoyed having conceived the No 1 program in BET history, her reality show, The Way It Is, which is currently enjoying its third season of top ratings at BET. Be sure to tune in every Tuesday at 10PM. Keyshia is the new force in R&B music outselling all R&B female artists that entered the industry around the same time. Now with A Different Me, Keyshia's 3rd album release, she is sure to top the charts once again.
