New York, NY. (Top40 Charts/ Shore Fire Media) - Smithsonian Folkways Recordings received two Grammy nominations today, with Mariachi's Los Camperos de Nati Cano's 'Amor, Dolor y Lagrimas: Mariachi Los Camperos de Nati Cano' nominated for the Best Regional Mexican Album and Michael Doucet's 'From Now On' nominated for the Best Zydeco Or Cajun Music Album. This is the fifth time in six years the label has been nominated for multiple Grammy Awards in a single year, with a total of thirteen nominations in the last five years.

'Amor, Dolor y Lagrimas: Mariachi Los Camperos de Nati Cano' is a collection of memorable musica ranchera songs performed and arranged by the groundbreaking ensemble Mariachi Los Camperos de Nati Cano. The thirteen songs on 'Amor, Dolor y Lagrimas' (Love, Hurt, and Tears) reflect the rich rural tradition at the core of musica ranchera, as well its development parallel to the urbanization of Mexican society. Featuring performances by one of the genre's most talented practitioners, the album is a testament to musica ranchera and the mariachi group's enduring significance to Mexican and worldwide audiences.

'From Now On' is an engaging portrait of the music from southern Louisiana, and demonstrates Doucet's unmatched career in shaping the Cajun style-and equally unmatched talent for performing. The album encompasses a wide range of regional music, from a Creole interpretation of Allen Toussaint's "Everything I Do Gonna Be Funky,' to original compositions and traditional songs Doucet learned from legends Dennis McGee and Canray Fontenot. In his track notes, Doucet comments on the roots of Cajun music and the inspiration behind each song, offering personal details about the recording process that reveal his passion for the genre.
