New York, NY. (Top40 Charts/ Shore Fire Media) - When Anne Heaton tours behind her new album 'Blazing Red,' (March 3, Spill Records) she will meet and interview fans for her "Life Is Alchemy" project, collecting their stories and turning them into new songs for a future album.
Asked in 2006 to compose an original song as a gift for a fan's wedding, Heaton reluctantly agreed, not sure how such an experiment might turn out. But she ended up finding inspiration in another's experience and decided to seek out additional stories and repeat the process. "People have amazing stories," explains Heaton, "happy, sad, challenging, heartbreaking, miraculous, transformative and triumphant. Music is the ultimate alchemy and stories give us perspective, serving as a reminder that we are all connected."
Later, Heaton attended a peace conference in Costa Rica and visited an organization benefiting homeless children in Bogota, Columbia. After hearing the stories of people in both places Heaton realized she could expand the reach of her songs by telling the stories of people from all over the world. This year Heaton will be "seeking out stories of alchemy or transformation. Any story that in telling it can uplift, move, or inspire someone else."
Heaton's new album, 'Blazing Red' contains the stories of transition and profound changes of her own life. She will be performing from the album on tour this spring and was recently confirmed to perform at this year's Sundance Film Festival.
