Music BMI) - Inspired by President-Elect Barack Obama's 'Yes We Can' acceptance speech, award-winning songwriter/composer Eddie Reasoner along with fellow musician Jackie Simons have recorded an original song entitled 'We're Americans - Yes We Can' (lyrics and MP-3 song attached).
The song, 'We're Americans - Yes We Can,' encompasses the spirit of President-Elect Obama and conveys the similar messages, hopes and dreams of President Abraham Lincoln, Senator Bobby Kennedy, Civil Rights Leader Martin Luther King Jr., President John F. Kennedy and the hearts of the American People.
'I, like most Americans, was so moved by President-Elect Obama's acceptance speech, that I immediately went to the piano and the lyrics began to flow," said Reasoner. "When I heard that he was going to use President Lincoln's Bible to take the Oath of Office, I was truly inspired.'
Reasoner's patriotic songwriting was recognized by The White House in 1991 for his tune "Stand Your Ground," which he wrote and performed dedicated to the troops of Desert Storm. He received letters of recognition from President Bush.
Audiences may recognize Reasoner's song "Rain Dance" which has become a 'household tune' on The Weather Channel. His lyrics and music have been featured on numerous television shows such as ABC's 20/20, NBC's In The Heat of the Night, CBS's Movie of the Week, Lifetime Television, The Armed Forces Network and most recently CBS-TV's The Young and the Restless.
As Reasoner wrote in the lyrics to the song, 'As a people and a nation, it's time we come together as one ... and build a bridge to the promised land ... we're Americans.'
