New York, NY. (Top40 Charts/ Shore Fire Media) - Blues
Music Award nominees range from the 93 year-old
David "Honeyboy" Edwards to the Tupelo, MS sibling band Homemade Jamz Band, whose drummer
Tanya Perry is 10, bassist Kyle is 14, and singer/guitarist Ryan is 16. They are the youngest ever Blues
Music Award nominees. The band has already recorded an album ('Pay Me No Mind'); toured the country; played with B.B. King; performed on The Today Show, CBS Sunday Morning, and NPR; made their own guitars out of mufflers; and are now nominated in the category of Best New Artist Debut.
When asked if they'll be attending the May 7 ceremony in Memphis, TN, their mom and co-manager Tricia Perry said, "We wouldn't miss it for anything! I'm very proud of their accomplishments, especially with their age and the feel of the music."
A milestone on the band's ascent in the blues world was their second place finish in the Blues Foundation's International Blues Challenge in 2007. Tricia said, "The International Blues Challenge opened our mind to how much the blues is still out there."
Ryan said that the Blues Music Award represents that "we are here to stay."
