"Judging by the record number of JUNO Awards submissions received this year from artists across the country and the nominees named today, it is clear that Canadian musicians are at the top of their game and continue to add new layers of creativity and excellence to their craft and to the global music industry as well," said Melanie Berry, President of CARAS. Among the nominees announced today, three-time JUNO Award-winner SAM ROBERTS earns four nominations including Artist of the Year, Rock Album of the Year and two nominations in the same category for Video of the Year (sponsored by VideoFACT) for "Detroit '67" and "Them Kids."

CELINE DION and HEDLEY each earned three JUNO Award nominations. Both are nominees for the JUNO Fan Choice (sponsored by Pepsi); Celine Dion for Single of the Year and Music DVD of the Year; Hedley for Album of the Year (sponsored by the Canadian Recording Industry Association) and Songwriter of the Year (sponsored by SIRIUS Satellite Radio).

Today's media conference also announced that NICKELBACK will perform on Sunday's JUNO Awards broadcast on CTV, along with newly announced performers including CITY AND COLOUR (nominated for Artist of the Year, Songwriter of the Year sponsored by SIRIUS Satellite Radio), and SIMPLE PLAN (Album of the Year sponsored by the Canadian Recording Industry Association, Group of the Year).
