NY (Top40 Charts) - New York, July 16, 2001,� The Fordham Road Renaissance Festival has become The Bronx's largest and most popular street festival attracting well over 70,000 people since 1996. The Festival has become an annual event celebrating the boroughs rich cultural diversity and its people and takes place on Fordham Road stretching from Kingsbridge Road to Morris Avenue. This year the Festival's scheduled for Sunday, September 9th from 12pm - 6pm. Dressed with two (2) stages on each end where we will be featuring a diverse collection music from Merengue to Salsa�.Rap, Hip-hop, Soca, Reggae� is held and with nearly 115 booths stretching over an area about a half-mile long, The Fordham Road Renaissance Festival serves to promote and enliven the 3rd largest commercial corridor in New York, along with almost 400 retailers. This year, the Bronx Council for Economic Development has chosen "Embracing Excellence" as the theme for the Festival as it defines exactly what this special day is celebrating�excellence. Following with the theme, Borough President Fernando Ferrer will be giving "Keys of the Bronx 'to Special Honorees that have achieved excellence through out their careers. Founded in 1995, The Bronx Council for Economic Development was created for the purpose of addressing the adversesocio-economic problems afflicting the Northwest Bronx. To this end, The Bronx Councils mission is to create job opportunities and create economic programs that encourage small business development and address the needs of existing small businesses as well as revitalization programs that meet the needs of our diverse community.
