NEW YORK (Top40 Charts/ Atlantic Records) - Atlantic recording artist
Paolo Nutini has unveiled plans for a major North American headline tour. The dates celebrate the release of the Scottish-born singer/songwriter's eagerly awaited second album, "SUNNY SIDE UP," which arrives everywhere on June 2nd.
Paolo and his band, The Vipers, will kick off the tour on July 20th at The Stephen Talkhouse in Amagansett, New York (see itinerary below). The dates continue through mid-August, with further shows to be revealed in the coming weeks. Support on all announced dates comes from Erin McCarley and labelmate Matt Hires. Fans can pre-order tickets now via https://www.frontgatetickets.com, with the added option of bundling a digital copy of "SUNNY SIDE UP" along with their tickets.
"SUNNY SIDE UP" is preceded by the first single, "Candy," which is impacting now at Triple A radio outlets nationwide. A companion video clip - filmed in Cuba under the direction of Nez (Lily Allen, Kano) - is currently streaming exclusively on MSN Music.
Nutini and The Vipers were among the lauded performers at the recent Coachella Valley Music & Arts Festival in Indio, California, with high praise coming from such outlets as Entertainment Weekly, which, in summing up the weekend, declared, "There are moments I'll carry with me for long enough to get me back to Indio next year, and the year after that," counting Paolo's stunning rendition of Sly & the Family Stone's "I Want To Take You Higher" as one of the festival's undeniable highlights. The following week saw Nutini play a week of sold out shows on the west coast before returning home for a completely sold-out UK tour.
Produced by Paolo Nutini and Ethan Johns (Kings of Leon, Ryan Adams, Ray LaMontagne), "SUNNY SIDE UP" sees Nutini continuing to mine his arresting brand of soulful modern pop. Songs such as "10/10" and "Coming Up Easy" display the gifted tunesmith's ever-growing knack for irrepressible melodies melded with insightful and intimate lyricism, all held together by Paolo's gritty and unpredictable vocal stylings.
Named one of Rolling Stone's "10 Artists To Watch," Nutini burst into the spotlight as one of 2006's most acclaimed new singer/songwriters. His debut album "THESE STREETS" proved an international phenomenon, earning the Paisley, Scotland-born troubadour a cornucopia of critical praise and worldwide sales in excess of two million. USA Today raved, "It's been a while since a youthful pop upstart revealed the breadth of talent that... Nutini shows," while the New York Daily News noted that "voices like Nutini's come around just a few times in a generation."
A uniquely charismatic live performer, Nutini toured nearly non-stop following the release of "THESE STREETS," headlining countless shows and appeared at some of the world's biggest festivals, including Live Earth, Lollapalooza, Bonnaroo Music & Arts Festival, T In The Park, Montreaux Jazz Festival, and the Isle of Wight Festival 2007 - where Paolo dueted with Mick Jagger on "Love In Vain" during The Rolling Stones' festival-closing set. What's more, Nutini served as support act on one of the biggest concerts in recent memory - Led Zeppelin's now-legendary 2007 reunion show at London's O2 Arena, benefitting the Ahmet Ertegun Education Fund. He has since shared stages with a range of other musical icons, including a 2008 soul spectacular at Los Angeles' Hollywood Bowl which saw Paolo more than holding his own alongside Rock and Roll Hall of Fame members Etta James and Solomon Burke.
