America (BEA) has announced that
Steven Tyler and Clarence Clemons will both appear together as part of BEA's Opening Night Keynote festivities where they will be interviewed 'live' on stage by Chuck Klosterman.
The event marks the inaugural debut of BEA's new Author Stage initiative which features groupings of authors who will be interviewed by journalists or other authors on one of two new elaborately built stages right on the show floor. The Author Stage interviews, many of which have already been scheduled, will take place throughout the day on Friday, May 29 and Saturday, May 30. The inaugural debut of the series which features Mr. Tyler, Mr. Clemons, and Mr. Klosterman will take place on BEA's 'main' stage in the Special Events Hall.
BEA's Opening Night Keynote will take place on Thursday, May 28 at 5:30pm and is an open event which is free to all BEA attendees. It will conclude signature programming at BEA on Thursday afternoon which begins with a CEO Roundtable with Tina Brown at 3pm, followed by BEA's Editor's Buzz at 4:15pm. Other conference programming, including 'Big Ideas at BEA' and the ABA's Day of Education, will be held earlier in the day on Thursday.
'At BEA we have always prided ourselves on the diversity of programming and personalities that the show highlights, and this year we are taking it to a new level,' notes Lance Fensterman, Vice President and Show Manager for BEA. 'We are adhering to some great traditions while moving in some bold new directions.
Our Author Stage interview series is a big initiative for us this year and we are honored to have a rock legend like Steven Tyler and a music genius like Clarence Clemons, to say nothing of a talented writer like Chuck Klosterman, all on hand to kick off our series and our show! It's an embarrassment of riches. These guys have seen it all and they will provide a wild opening to our show. BEA is about featuring stories, whether real or fictional, and Steve Tyler and Clarence Clemons certainly have their fair share of stories!'
DOES THE NOISE IN MY HEAD BOTHER YOU? (Ecco) by Steven Tyler, traces Tyler's youth in the Bronx, his early music career and influences, his legendary partnership with Joe Perry, the meteoric rise, fall, and rise of Aerosmith over the last three decades, their music, his epic romantic life, his relationship with his four children (including actress Liv Tyler and actress and author Mia Tyler) life on the road and in the spotlight, the economics of the rock star business -and all the sex, drugs, and rock and roll a reader could ask for. With twenty-one Billboard Top 40 hits, including 'Walk This Way,' 'Angel,' 'Dream On,' and 'Dude (Looks Like A Lady),' Aerosmith has sold 150 million albums worldwide. With over 66 million albums sold in the United States alone, they hold the record for most gold and multi-platinum albums by an American group.
In commenting on his own book, Tyler states: 'This is not just my take, this is the unbridled truth, the in-your-face, up-close and prodigious tale of Steven Tyler straight from the horse's lips.'
For the first time ever, BIG MAN (Grand Central Publishing/Hachette Book Group) by Clarence Clemons and Don Reo provides the exclusive inside story of Mr. Clarence 'Big Man' Clemons, his life before, during and beyond the E-Street Band including unbelievable, never before told legends of adventures with Bruce Springsteen and an incredible cast of other famous characters recounted by himself and his friend, television writer/ producer Don Reo.
BIG MAN is the first book written by a member of the E-Street Band, one of music's most reticent groups. Eagerly awaited by Springsteen/Clemons fans, the book is filled with insights and observations from both on and off the road made by both Clarence and Don under extraordinary circumstances. Stories not only from backstage, but from inside the limo, the jet and hotel suites around the world, Clemons and Reo spin their own legendary yarns to add to the already mystical lore of E Street.
