NEW YORK (Top40 Charts/ MTV) - Setting the stage for some of this summer's most talked about performances, MTV announced today that rock icons Kings of Leon will perform at the "2009 MTV Movie Awards." The band will perform their rock anthem "Use Somebody" from their hit album "Only By The Night." Hosted by Andy Samberg, the "MTV Movie Awards" will air on Sunday, May 31st at 9PM (Live ET/Tape Delayed PT). The Show will also feature a musical performance by Eminem who will perform music from his anticipated new album "Relapse."

Kings of Leon have thrived as one of the most popular artists to hit the music scene in recent years and their latest album "Only By The Night," has sold almost four-million units world-wide. Their infectious single, "Sex On Fire," topped the Modern Rock chart at number one for eight weeks straight and "Use Somebody," the album's second single, stayed at number one on the chart for three weeks straight. "Sex On Fire" also broke the record for biggest selling digital album and digital single of all time in the UK. Just completing their first-ever arena tour of America, following the MTV Movie Awards, Kings of Leon will be playing festivals worldwide all summer long and into the fall, including headlining slots at Lollapalooza and the Austin Limits City Festival.

MTV continues to deliver star power as Denzel Washington, Cameron Diaz, Ryan Reynolds, Will Ferrell, Vanessa Hudgens, Leighton Meester, Jonah Hill and Lil Wayne were recently announced as part of the growing list of presenters. With a red carpet this hot, viewers can expect another year of incredible pairings and extreme moments.

The "2009 MTV Movie Awards" marks the first year in which the final nominees were decided on by the fans. MTV will up the cinematic fun quotient this year by debuting the two new categories "BEST SONG FROM A MOVIE" and "BEST WTF MOMENT." Fans will get the chance to vote on their favorite movie soundtrack hit and pick year's most jaw-dropping "WTF" movie moment that left audiences speechless. Viewers can decide the golden popcorn destiny of their favorite flicks by visiting MovieAwards.MTV.com before May 27 to vote for their favorite film moments and actors but the category of "BEST MOVIE" will be a fight to the end as voting for favorite film of the year will remain open throughout the LIVE show.
