HRH The Prince of Wales set up the PRP in 2007, in order to build awareness about the need to slow the rate of tropical deforestation to prevent catastrophic climate change. This gig will raise public awareness about the link between rainforests and climate change and encourage people to sign up to the PRP's high-profile awareness campaign.
The PRP has developed a proposal for emergency funding to help protect rainforests and to encourage rainforest nations to continue to develop without the need for deforestation. Following a very significant meeting of world leaders convened by HRH The Prince of Wales, an international working group has now been set up to examine this 'Emergency Package' along with other proposals.
