New York (Top40 Charts/ Celstream Technologies) - In today's fast-paced global business environment, product development is a mission-critical process. To remain competitive in a world of shrinking product lifecycles, product developers, especially those in start-up mode, must bring their products to market quickly and cost-effectively.
Celstream Technologies Private Ltd., a leading global Product Engineering Services company, with proven expertise in helping companies bring innovative and high-quality products to market faster than the competition, has partnered with Tanager AudioWorks, a North American music software company focused on products for songwriters and recording musicians. Together, the companies successfully developed SongFrame, an advanced song development toolkit designed to provide songwriters and recording musicians with an integrated and comprehensive set of tools for writing and refining songs, and Chirp, a software emulation of a MIDI keyboard controller that provides mobile musicians with the ability to capture melody or musical ideas on their laptops while away from a keyboard.
"We are pleased that Tanager AudioWorks chose Celstream as its co-development partner," said Anand Kuppuswamy, corporate manager, Marketing and Strategy, Celstream. "For nearly a decade, Celstream has served the global product development community, including the Media & Entertainment industry, through our product engineering services. The growing use of digital technologies has dramatically altered the business landscape for this industry, creating new opportunities for start-up companies like Tanager AudioWorks."
By leveraging Celstream's in-depth expertise in the video and audio domain, as well as its vast cross-platform development expertise, Tanager AudioWorks was able to accelerate the development of its SongFrame and Chirp using Celstream's library of reusable components and proven development processes. Tanager was able to meet an aggressive development timeline, releasing both products on time and within budget with the help of Celstream's experienced product development team.
"We are grateful to Celstream for their significant contributions in the development of SongFrame and Chirp," said Scott Bausback, president, Tanager AudioWorks. "We chose to partner with Celstream by virtue of its strong track-record in accelerating product development for Media & Entertainment companies around the globe. The company's vast experience in this area ensured that they fully understood our business and technical requirements, and could provide the expertise needed to enable us to achieve our business goals in a cost-effective and timely manner."
During the course of the development of these two products, Celstream overcame several unique challenges of using database technology to drive a flexible music creation tool with the real-time playback performance expected by end users.
Additionally, because the tool was targeted for use on Windows and Apple Mac platforms, the architecture developed by Celstream had to be portable enough to handle both targeted platforms with minimal re-work. Tanager AudioWorks also wanted to provide its end users with a rich graphical interface and it was critical that the tool seamlessly work with other third-party applications and components using multiple standards, and support well-known music standards, such as VST, ReWire, MusicXML, OMF and AAF.
Based on these and other design requirements, Celstream formulated a product development scenario for Tanager AudioWorks that included a flexible, modular architecture that leveraged an Adobe Flex -based, rich graphical user interface to project the photo-realistic requirements of the user interface while meeting the portability requirements. The use of off-the-shelf reusable components, including the SQLLite-based music repository, MIDI and Audio Handling, ReWire and VST Support, MusicXML, AAF and OMF export formats, helped to speed development times.
Prior to the release of SongFrame SongWriter's Toolkit and Chirp Virtual MIDI Keyboard Controller, Celstream conducted extensive performance tuning and testing on multiple platforms to meet the reliability benchmarks and performance expectations set by the customer.
"We are extremely satisfied with Celstream's role in helping us to realize our product roadmap and business goals, and consider them to be an integral part of our product engineering strategy," continued Bausback. "Not only were we able to increase our R&D capacity and enhance productivity while reducing development costs, we also were able to release innovative and high-quality products to a receptive market."
