
New York, NY (Top40 Charts/ Warner Bros. Records) - After their new album 21st Century Breakdown debuted at No. 1 on the Billboard Top 200 Album chart and reached the top spot in 24 countries around the world,
Green Day continue to dominate the airwaves with a series of television and radio appearances in the U.S. this week.
The band will perform on The Tonight Show with Conan O'Brien on Tuesday, June 2nd, as well as on Last Call with Carson Daly on June 9th, 10th, 11th and 12th. Green Day will perform an intimate show at Los Angeles' Henry Fonda Theater on June 4th and will also appear on KROQ's morning show Kevin & Bean on June 8th. The band will also appear at an in-store album signing at the Hot Topic retail store at the Hollywood and Highland shopping complex in Hollywood on June 2nd.
Green Day has already appeared on Saturday Night Live, The Colbert Report, Good Morning America, The Late Show with David Letterman, and CBS Sunday Morning in the weeks following the No. 1 debut of 21st Century Breakdown. The album also debuted at No. 1 in 22 countries, including the UK, Canada, Japan, and France, and currently sits atop the album charts in 24 countries, plus the European album chart.
21st Century Breakdown's first single, 'Know Your Enemy,' has been No. 1 at Alternative radio for six weeks. This is the band's ninth No. 1 single at the format, making them the artist with the second most No. 1's of all-time at Alternative. The track is also No. 1 at Active Rock and Mainstream Rock, giving Green Day the rare triple play of being No. 1 at all three rock radio formats simultaneously.
Another album track, '21 Guns,' is the highest debut this week on the Alternative chart. The song is included on the upcoming soundtrack to the summer sequel Transformers: Revenge of the Fallen, due in stores on June 23rd.
Green Day, which is singer-guitarist Billie Joe Armstrong, bassist Mike Dirnt, and drummer Tre Cool, are preparing to launch their first proper tour of the United States and Canada in more than three years. The tour begins July 3rd at Seattle's Key Arena and will cross North America through the summer, including a stop July 27th and 28th at New York City's Madison Square Garden, before finishing up with a show at the Forum in Los Angeles on August 25th.
