NEW YORK (Top40 Charts/ By Stephen M. Thornton/ ISL Public Relations) - June 4 was a momentous day for indie music singer/songwriter/pianist EMIKO not only as the first date on a tour that will take her around the US and to Japan, it also marked the release of her new CD.
The seven-song EP entitled "Music in the Meantime..." was funded entirely by fans, friends and family and serves as a prelude to a full album by early 2010.
No stranger to breaking new ground, EMIKO has made "Music in the Meantime..." available in digital format only, allowing her followers to purchase it as a digital drop card or on iTunes.

After successfully wowing the crowds in Sun Valley, ID this past February, EMIKO returned to launch her 2009 Summer Tour with two rousing concerts. On the first day (June 4) EMIKO and her band started the day with two back-to-back live radio interviews and capped the evening with a club concert that garner five encores, stretching the show 90 minutes beyond scheduled stop time. The following afternoon, EMIKO performed at the new Pavillion amphitheater, opening the Acoustic Music Festival headlined by Keb' Mo. Then it was on to Boise and a benefit concert for the local Center for the Arts, followed by a one-night-only show in Madison, WI.

From June 11 - 14, EMIKO and her band will call beautiful Sturgeon Bay, WI home with a series of appearances. Spearheaded by Jackson Browne and Pat MacDonald and billed as "The greatest showcase of original music in the Midwest," the Steel Bridge SongFest is held annually to help save the historic Michigan Street Bridge by bestowing it with landmark status. "People don't understand that it's like walking across the footsteps of time," EMIKO says. For this, her third time participating, EMIKO and band will perform as a core headlining group in addition to playing club gigs in and around town. Other artists participating include Jane Wiedlin, James McMurtry, Freedy Johnston, and Louise Goffin.

June wraps up with a trip across our northern border to Canada for the Vancouver Island Music Business Conference (June 26 - 28) where EMIKO will perform at a showcase and also participate on several panels as an artist teaching other artists about the music industry.
