New York, NY (Top40 Charts/ Columbia Records) - Pete Yorn is back, and critics can't get enough of BACK AND FOURTH.

Released Tuesday, June 23, BACK AND FOURTH is Yorn's fourth Columbia Records release, and comes on the heels of an extensive spring tour in support of Coldplay. With a headlining tour scheduled to kick off July 9, critics are already raving about the new release. "Yorn has found his voice on this beauty of a record," hails Rolling Stone, who gave the album a 3.5-star review in their issue on-sale this week. The album is "on course as one of the best albums of 2009," agrees The Huffington Post, while People Magazine named the album a Critic's Choice, calling it "perfect music for the morning after." USA Today gave BACK AND FOURTH a 3-star review, calling "their stories lovely and ephemeral and bittersweet like a summertime romance."

If you don't trust the critics, his fans have also spoken.

In an exclusive iTunes pre-sale, BACK AND FOURTH sold 11,672 digital copies, driving the album to Top 10 status (reached No. 4 on iTunes Album Chart), and to No. 1 on the store's alternative charts - all before its official release. The album's first single, "Don't Wanna Cry," is in the Top 10 overall at Triple A radio, and momentum is only building, as VH1 began spinning the new video this week.

Yorn celebrated Tuesday's release with a Monday night appearance on "The Tonight Show With Conan O'Brien," and will be playing an intimate club show at The Roxy Theater, in Hollywood, CA, tonight, June 24. Yorn returns to the road as a headliner July 9 for a two-month run highlighted by multiple nights in New York City, Chicago, Minneapolis and Los Angeles (go to www.peteyorn.com for a complete list of tour dates).

Recorded in Omaha, NE, with producer Mike Mogis (Bright Eyes, Rilo Kiley), Yorn says the album was inspired by an escape from his everyday routine, and the change of pace between hometown Los Angeles and more rural Nebraska. "I think I found a different kind of inspiration there that helped carry the record home," he says.

More critical praise for BACK AND FOURTH:

"Proves mixed feelings can be as haunting as concrete ones." (B+)
-Entertainment Weekly

"The darkest, deepest songs of his career."
-Paste

"The most introspective disc of Yorn's career."
-Performing Songwriter
