DALLAS, Texas (Latino Cultural Center press release) - In just a few months, the North Texas area will be infused with Latino culture and heritage with the opening of the Latino Cultural Center in Dallas.
At the world-class cultural, performance and educational complex uniquely focused on Latino culture and contributions, the rich artistic expression of Latinos from yesterday to today will be represented.

The goals of the center include the following:
- Preserve the arts and cultural traditions of the Latino population;
- Expose the non-Latino communities in North Texas to the rich cultural heritage of the Latino population; and
- Nurture the Latino arts community in Dallas and beyond, and especially help younger artists develop.

The Latino Cultural Center has been designed by world renowned, AIA gold medal winner, Mexican- architect Ricardo Legorreta. In Phase I, the Latino Cultural Center will feature a world-class, 300-seat, fully equipped theater; gallery; classrooms; artists' workspace; office space; and a plaza. Phase II plans include a black box theater, additional gallery spaces, practice rooms and classrooms.

Dallas Mayor Laura Miller and the Dallas City Council, Mexican architect Ricardo Legorreta, civic leaders like Dolores Barzune, and head liners at the grand opening like Tito Puente, Jr. and Tania Libertad-- the Latino Cultural Center is drawing interest across the spectrum.

The Latino Cultural Center will celebrate its grand opening in September 2003, but there is plenty going on in the meantime. On June 4, 2003 there will be a press conference to unveil the Latino Cultural Center logo; sneak peek tours during the summer, grand opening lineup announcements and much more.
WHERE: 2600 Live Oak at Good Latimer
Dallas, TX 75204

The need for a venue like the Latino Cultural Center is apparent, as the Latino community is Texas' fastest growing segment representing 32 percent of its population. Latinos comprise 29.9 percent of Dallas County's populace and over 35 percent of the city's population.
