LONDON, UK (BBC Radio 1) - Radio 1 is to stage an intimate one-off Foo Fighters' gig. It will take place at the Mean Fiddler in London on Wednesday August 20. The band's performance will be broadcast live into Zane Lowe's new Radio 1 show, which launches on July 1. And in a special preview lead singer Dave Grohl will be co-hosting with Jo Whiley on the day before the gig. Fans will only be able to get tickets to the event by entering a competition through the station. A spokesman for Radio 1 said: "It's brilliant for the station to have a band of the Foo Fighters' stature in such a small venue and to be able to give away all the tickets free through Radio 1. "This is a unique and very special event and only Radio 1 could make this happen. If fans don't get to go they can still listen to the full gig live in Zane's show. It's going to be an incredible night."
