New York, NY (Top40 Charts/ DMH RECORDS) - Tracy Hamlin is a Baltimore Maryland native. What does that mean? It means she's steeped in music. It runs through her very soul, and Tracy has that uncanny innate ability to turn it round and out to the world that's distinct to real musicians.
But Tracy never found success beyond her grasp. Like I said, it's a classic tale. At eleven, her course was clear. MUSIC was IT. And from her earliest days she's built bridges that have connected her, not to her peers alone, but to the world at large. Not to fame and fortune, but to the driving force�the music!
Hamlin picked up the microphone at eleven and before long, was receiving recognition for her musical abilities. Where many kids at that age are content to watch TV, play video games or just 'hang out,' Tracy had one singularly focused ambition. She wanted to become a vocalist. I mean, it was her LIFE! Often as not, she'd fall asleep at night with her microphone 'in her bed.' We're talking commitment here.
It's that sterling passion for music that ruled her life, and set her course for the future. The only reason she wanted to graduate Baltimore School For The Arts was so that she could just get ON with her music. She couldn't wait to get on the road and share her gift for musical expression with the world. To play in a band! Now THAT's the real deal.
To quote her, 'I was so hungry inside to graduate and get into a road band and start seeing the world and making a living doing it that school was the last thing on my mind. I was ready to start chasing the dream."
And that's exactly what she did�and did it well!
Tracy Hamlin's passion and talent has allowed her to step up and play with some of the most esteemed musicians in the world. Who, you might ask? Guys like Carlos Santana, Marcus Miller and Jonathan Butler.
Hamlin, the longtime lead singer for the award-winning group, "Pieces of a Dream", released her first solo album, "Seasons" (DMH Records, LLC) in 2005. The CD features performances by Najee on flute in "Sundown", James Lloyd (from Pieces of a Dream) on piano in the title cut and Paul Reed Smith (world renowned guitar maker) in "Ain't No Sunshine".
Coming soon is her second CD, 'Better Days,' scheduled for release in August of 2009. This is going to be a monster!
Currently a Georgia resident, Tracy Hamlin just seems to keep going�keep growing�on that long musical road. You see, it's the MUSIC, not all the trappings, that drives this amazing talent.
